🍾 Our tips for an unforgettable walk
Avenue de Champagne is not only the most famous street in Épernay: it is also one of the most prestigious wine avenues in the world.
Strolling along its majestic buildings is like diving into the history of champagne… and into the cellars where it was born.
🚶♂️ Why visit Avenue de Champagne on foot?
Because on foot, we take our time.
Time to admire the architecture, read the plaques engraved with the names of the great houses, and sometimes enter a discreet courtyard for a tasting.
The avenue is about 1 km long, and can easily be covered in 1 hour… or 3, if you let yourself be tempted by all the discoveries.
🏛️ The must-sees not to be missed
🥂 Moët & Chandon
A must-see. The house offers guided tours of its monumental cellars (online booking recommended).
🥂 Mercier
A more contemporary atmosphere, a tour of the cellars by little train and a final tasting.
Fun and effective!
🥂 De Castellane
Easily recognizable by its red tower. One of the few houses to offer a panoramic view of Épernay!
🧭 Our practical advice for your walk
- Prefer the morning or the end of the day to avoid the crowds
- Comfortable shoes recommended (cobblestones + stairs in some cellars)
- Remember to book your visits in advance, especially on weekends
- Stop at the Tourist Office, located at the bottom of the avenue, to pick up a map or a discount voucher.
🌿 And after? A well-deserved break…
Why not end your walk in a shady park, or with a drink on one of the terraces on Place Hugues-Plomb?
And if you’re staying at La Pétalerie, you’re just a 5-minute walk from all of this.
